A Portable Sanctuary based on Wa-Kei-Sei-Jaku
CHAREN Tokyo proudly announce ORIGAMI Tea House project as a reinterpretation of the historical Japanese teahouse into contemporary life. While the original architecture was designed by a legendary grand tea master Sen Rikyu (1522 – 1591) is inherited at Myoki-an, Zen temple in Kyoto, we created DIY teahouse to engage modern to authenticity.
Rather than preserving culture as an artifact, this project positions tradition as a living system—designed to circulate, adapt, and remain relevant in a rapidly accelerating world.
Original Tai-an is one of the Japanese national treasure, ORIGAMI Tea House inspiring people’s stillness throughout centuries to today. A blank space at your home, office or anywhere you want to feel the true meaning of being a human.
